1953 - 1964 CJ-3B
Production of the Willys CJ3B model began in 1953 and continued through
1964.  The CJ3B "high hood" was the first civilian 1/4 ton Jeep to use the
F134 Hurricane engine, making it necessary to raise the hood about four
inches.   The CJ3B still used the T90
transmission, Model 18 transfer case,
Dana 25 front end, and Dana 44 rear end.
The CJ3B also saw some changes during production.  The early CJ3B,
through 1956, used the same seat frames and gauges as the CJ3A.  In
1957, Willys began using the CJ5 style seat frames and instrument cluster
(large round speedometer with fuel and temp included).  The park lights
were also changed in 1957.
